OrcaWave vs AQWA — Diffraction Comparison

How this report works

Both solver series are fetched at page-load time from the public, de-identified Hugging Face dataset aceengineer/digitalmodel-diffraction-rao via the datasets-server API — no result values are baked into the page. Select different published series with URL parameters: ?vesselA=<id>&dampingA=<ζ%>&vesselB=<id>&dampingB=<ζ%>. If one series is not yet published, the page renders the available series and marks the comparison statistics as pending rather than failing.

Comparison method

Magnitudes only by default. AQWA and OrcaWave publish phases in different conventions (OrcaWave: Orcina lag) — phase comparison requires an explicit convention alignment and is out of scope for the automatic statistics below.

Delta statistics are computed on the overlapping period band of the two series: series B is linearly interpolated in period onto series A's grid at each common heading. Peak deltas compare each series' own peak within the overlap band. Percentage deltas are reported relative to series A and are suppressed where |A| < 5 % of A's peak (to avoid noise-dominated ratios near zero crossings).

A physically meaningful roll comparison also requires matching damping treatment — ζ values for each series are shown in the availability table above; a mismatch is banner-flagged.
